| Experience: | I'm in the UTeach program in the College of Natural Sciences at the University of Texas and I've had experience teaching both 3rd and 8th grade classes. I've had experience writing many lesson plans for different topics in science and have taught lessons to classes as big as 30 students with and without a partner. My evaluations from teachers have said that I work the best with students when it's one-on-one and I believe that to be true as well. I took algebra, pre-calculus and differential calculus in high school and took pre-calculus once more at UT to gain better understanding and made in A in both that and differential calculus at the University of Texas. I made a B in integral calculus so I don't feel I'm strong enough to tutor in that level of math. I've also taken introductory biology classes and genetics made both A's and B's but I feel that is my strongest subject because I love the biology and my major is now Human Biology. I've taken two semesters of chemistry and I just finished taking organic chemistry and made B's in those classes so I feel I have a lot of knowledge in chemistry and would enjoy helping someone in that subject as well. I think I work well with younger students because this past year I was a literacy/science tutor at Lucy Read Elementary school and I'm going to continue that in the fall of this year. I've had plenty of experience since high school working with younger students because I was part of several mentoring and tutoring programs and in the past two years I've volunteered at the boys and girls club.
I scored a 28 on the ACT as a sophomore in high school but I was valedictorian of my school so I did not take any other tests to get into college because I already knew I would get in with the top 10 % rule.I have also been tutored before for calculus and organic chemistry because they've been pretty tough subjects for me so I understand what it's like being tutored and I think it has helped me become a better tutor. |
| Hobbies: | Although I was involved in just about every sport in high school such as basketball, volleyball, softball, track, and cross country I've always been somewhat of a nerd when it comes to school. I've always volunteered for different organizations since high |
